Drew’s First…
December 9, 2007 at 2:13 am | In Baby Drew, Mommy Moments | 3 CommentsTOOTH! I can’t believe it – Drew has been drooling and gnawing on things for weeks, but I was told that teething can go on for a while so I didn’t expect the first tooth to show up for some time. But yesterday, I ran my finger along his bottom gum, and there it was, his first little pearly white broken through. It’s an exciting milestone, but I’m also a little worried – nursing might need to end a little sooner than I had planned.
In other news – I went this week to get a haircut, the first one since having Drew. I thought it would be a great ‘pamper me’ moment. I realized I was wrong however, when the hairstylist found my first gray hair. I guess Drew and I are both ‘maturing’ faster than I’d like…

Don’t let the tooth persude you to quit nursing – by any means. My girls ALL got their first tooth early – 3m, 4m, and 5m respectively. I found it easy to get over the hurdle of having teeth at a younger age, because I was determined to nurse at least a year.
Anyway, I found having teeth didn’t really change anything. A child can’t bite while actively nursing, so if he’s stopped for a moment – just have you finger ready to break suction if you feel that he’s going to bite.
Yay Drew! You’re growing up so fast.

Ditto!! We nursed for 14 months, by which time Aniana had many teeth. I got a couple of bites, but it didn’t take her long to catch on that it was a no no. Many people in Cambridge nurse well into toddlerhood, so don’t give up too soon!
By the way….since Ani has been born, I have developed an entire crop of white hairs. Skipped over gray and went straight to white with this little monkey.

If it’s any consolation, blondes hide grey hairs pretty well!
