Hi Cammie, This is Jessica, Tim’s cousin in CT. Tim sent your Christmas card by e-mail which is where I found your blog address. I think this is a great idea, a way to keep others informed and provide somewhat of an outlet for yourself. Parenthood just sort of takes over in an instant and you wonder how you ever lived any differently before, doesn’t it? We are now expecting baby number two in July, Grayson will be just over three then, I am anxious to experience the new dynamics of parenthood with two (and slightly nervous)! ha ha My outlet has been a mom’s club that I run which has about 31 moms right now. It has gotten as large as 50, but I try to keep it more cozy and personal and this number seems to work. Have you looked into any local mom’s groups in your area, perhaps through your church? It’s a great way to share the parental umbrella, and also a good way to keep a piece of yourself in tact as a woman with the need for adult interaction, he he he. If you continue to have sleep issues, a book I would highly highly recommend is called, “the Baby Whisperer Solves all Your Problems” by Tracy Hogg. It addresses sleep and feeding and the sleep training is a gentle approach to teaching your little guy how to self sooth, without using you as a crutch, no crying it out required, not alone anyway. It’s how we got Grayson who has very high mental energy, to sleep well. Now he’s a sleep champ, but at one time, I had to view life through a bleary-eyed veil! NOT easy! Anyway, before this turns into it’s own novel, I will let you go. I just thought I would share the few things that have helped me through those very challenging, but utterly rewarding stages. Just wait until he reaches 6 months, OHHHH my absolute favorite age!! If you need any advice ever, please feel free to e-mail me. I see so much with all the mom’s in my mom’s group, I am also in the process of writing a book, long story….he he he. Good luck to you guys, I hope to hear from you soon.
